Jim Dunlop Guitar Pick Tortex Flow Pick 1.50mm Made In USA

Jim Dunlop Tortex Flow Pick 1.50mm – Maximum Stiffness, Precision Attack, Made in the USA

The Original Tortex Formula. Now with Flow Pick Geometry. The Heaviest Gauge in the Line.

Tortex Flow Picks combine the bright snap of Tortex Picks with Flow Pick geometry, featuring a wide angle to focus your attack and a sharp tip for superior precision and articulation. First released in 1981, Tortex Picks were originally intended to be a high-quality replacement for tortoiseshell. Jim Dunlop's trail-blazing creation became so much more than that, however, establishing its own identity and becoming the new standard by which all other picks are judged.

The Story Behind the Legend

Building on the precision, consistency, and color-coded gauge system he introduced with Nylon Picks, Jim resolved to create a pick with a bright and snappy attack, superior memory and durability, and an improved grip. He chose Delrin as his base material and then spent more than a year developing a special treatment process to draw out its full potential. This treatment process is what sets Tortex Picks apart from all others, providing their unique grip-enhancing matte surface and aggressive attack. Because we stick to Jim's original formula, Tortex Picks remain our bestselling pick line. And we still make them at the Dunlop HQ in Benicia, California.

Flow Pick Geometry – Focused Attack, Superior Precision

The Tortex Flow Pick features a unique geometry designed for players who demand precision and articulation. The wide angle focuses your attack for a more controlled, directed sound, while the sharp tip delivers superior precision for fast, articulate single-note lines and complex lead work. This combination makes the Flow Pick ideal for:

• Lead Playing: The sharp tip provides exceptional articulation for fast runs and melodic solos.

• Precision Picking: The wide angle focuses your attack for controlled, accurate playing.

• Technical Styles: Perfect for progressive rock, metal, fusion, and any genre that demands precision.

• Versatile Playing: Works equally well for rhythm and lead, electric and acoustic.

The 1.50mm Gauge – The Heaviest, Stiffest Tortex Flow Pick

The 1.50mm Tortex Flow Pick is the thickest gauge in the Tortex Flow lineup, identified by its white color. This extra-heavy pick offers virtually no flex, making it the ultimate choice for players who demand maximum stiffness, volume, and control. With this thickness, the strike remains powerful and consistent—ideal for tight rhythms, snappy palm mutes, or leads that need to stay clear even at high gain. The 1.50mm gauge is perfect for:

• Heavy Rock and Metal: The extreme stiffness provides solid attack and chunky chord definition for high-gain styles.

• Bass Guitar: Many bassists prefer the 1.50mm for its powerful attack and minimal flex, especially for pick-style playing.

• Aggressive Strumming: Ideal for players who hit hard and need a pick that can keep up without bending or breaking.

• Precise Lead Playing: Enough rigidity for fast, articulate single-note lines and solos, with zero pick flex to get in the way.

A Stable Pick for Gaining Precision, from Riff to Solo

The Jim Dunlop Tortex Flow Standard 1.50mm is designed for guitarists who want a solid feel under their fingers and maximum control over every attack. Its non-slip surface improves grip when playing intensifies, especially during fast alternate picking or demanding passages. The Flow Standard shape combines comfort and precision: a tip designed to accurately catch the string while offering a natural gliding sensation that helps maintain a relaxed movement. A relevant choice for both electric and acoustic guitars for those seeking a sharp attack and immediate response.
