DR Strings FB5-45 FAT-BEAMS 45-125 Stainless Steel Bass 5 Strings

DR Strings FB5-45 FAT-BEAMS Stainless Steel Bass Strings – 45-125 Medium 5-String Set

Super-Fat Bottom. Pronounced Mids. Bright Highs. The Ultimate Full-Bodied Bass String – Now for 5-String Basses.

DR Strings FB5-45 FAT-BEAMS bass strings blend the finest American stainless-steel wrap wire on a round core but are made with a slower and high compression winding process to produce more pronounced mids, bright highs, and a super-fat bottom. They produce an overall fuller sound with a solid punch when it's needed. If you demand a bass tone that fills the room with authority and cuts through any mix—especially on a 5-string bass—FAT-BEAMS are your strings.

High Compression Winding – The Secret to FAT-BEAMS' Massive Tone

What sets FAT-BEAMS apart from other bass strings is DR's proprietary high compression winding process. This slower, more meticulous manufacturing method packs the stainless-steel wrap wire more tightly around the round core, resulting in a string with greater mass and density. The payoff is immediate: a fuller, richer tone with a super-fat bottom end, pronounced midrange presence, and bright, articulate highs. This unique construction is why FAT-BEAMS deliver a sound that is both powerful and refined—even on the low B string.

Round Core Construction – Flexible Feel, Musical Tone

Like all DR Hi-Beam family strings, FAT-BEAMS are built on a round core, which is unique in the industry. Unlike traditional hex-core strings that can feel stiff and resistant, round-core strings offer a more flexible, pliable feel that makes bending, vibrato, and expressive playing effortless. The round core also contributes to the string's warm, musical character, ensuring that the brightness never becomes harsh or fatiguing.

Fuller Sound with Solid Punch – Now in a 5-String Set

FAT-BEAMS produce an overall fuller sound with a solid punch when it's needed. Whether you're laying down a thick groove, slapping and popping, or playing melodic lines, these strings respond with authority and articulation. The pronounced mids ensure your bass sits perfectly in the mix, while the super-fat bottom provides the foundation that drives any song. The 5-string set extends that massive tone to the low B, giving you even more range and power. From rock to funk to jazz to metal, FAT-BEAMS deliver the tone that bassists demand.

Durability, Long Life, and Consistency

DR Strings are renowned for their durability and unusually long life. FAT-BEAMS maintain their tone and feel far longer than standard bass strings, saving you money on replacements and ensuring consistent performance gig after gig. Their string-to-string balance is impeccable, providing even volume and tone across the entire set—including the low B. And because they don't eat your frets, you can trust them to protect your instrument while delivering the tone you demand.
