DR Strings 50-110 ER-50 Hi-Beam Stainless Steel Bass 4 Strings Round Wound

DR Strings ER-50 Hi-Beam Stainless Steel Bass Strings – 50-110 Medium 4-String Set

Bright, Punchy, and Incredibly Flexible – The String of Choice for Discriminating Bassists

DR Strings Hi-Beam bass strings are round wound and constructed on a round core, which is unique in the industry. Hi-Beams require much more time, care, and extra steps to make than other bass strings. The extra effort DR expends making Hi-Beams results in a bass string that is highly flexible and musically bright—but not harshly so. They are renowned for durability, unusually long life, consistency, and string-to-string balance. They don't eat your frets. Hi-Beams are the string to choose for brightness, punch, and ease of playing.

Round Core Construction – The Secret to Hi-Beam's Sound and Feel

What sets Hi-Beams apart from other bass strings is their round core construction. Unlike traditional hex-core strings, which can feel stiff and resistant, round-core strings offer a more flexible, pliable feel that makes bending, vibrato, and expressive playing effortless. The round core also contributes to the string's warm, musical character, ensuring that the brightness never becomes harsh or fatiguing. This unique construction is why Hi-Beams require so much more time, care, and extra steps to manufacture—and why they're worth every bit of that effort.

Bright, Musical Tone with Punch and Clarity

Hi-Beams deliver a bright, musical tone that cuts through any mix without being overly aggressive. They offer the perfect balance of punch and clarity, making them ideal for a wide range of musical styles—from rock and funk to jazz and fusion. Whether you're slapping, fingerstyle playing, or using a pick, these strings respond with articulation and presence that will inspire your best playing.

Compression Winding for a Smooth, Comfortable Feel

The smooth feel of compression winding is another hallmark of Hi-Beam strings. This specialized winding process creates a surface that's easy on your fingers and easy on your frets, reducing wear and fatigue during long playing sessions. Combined with the round core's flexibility, the result is a string that feels as good as it sounds—allowing you to play longer, more comfortably, and with greater expression.

Durability, Long Life, and Consistency

DR Strings are renowned for their durability and unusually long life. Hi-Beams maintain their tone and feel far longer than standard bass strings, saving you money on replacements and ensuring consistent performance gig after gig. Their string-to-string balance is impeccable, providing even volume and tone across the entire set. And because they don't eat your frets, you can trust them to protect your instrument while delivering the tone you demand.
